What is Cross Country? |
Cross Country is a team running sport
that takes place in the fall. Courses vary from 2.8 to 3.1
miles and are usually run on grass or sometimes on pavement.
Junior High races are around 1.5 miles. |

When do we practice? |
Summer voluntary practice begin in
July. Mandatory practice begins August 16th for high school. |

Where do we practice? |
Most of our practice will be held a
Boyce Park. We meet near Cub pavilion. Sometimes we
practice at Plum High School if the track or weight room is needed.
Junior High practices are at Larry Mills Park. Bus transportation
will be provided to the park and to your home once school begins.

What equipment do I need? |
1.) Proper running shoes.
Wearing the wrong type of shoe will increase your chance of injury.
Visit is reputable shoe store where you will be fitted with the
proper shoe. Finding the proper shoe doesn't meaning buying the most
expensive shoe you can afford!
2.) A watch. |

How is a meet scored? |
Each team adds the places of their top
5 finishers. The team with the lowest score wins. |

Who are our opponents? |
We are in AAA Division 1 - Section 4
The other teams in our section are:
Penn Hills, Highlands, Fox Chapel, Kiski, Woodland Hills,
McKeesport, Central Catholic (boys) & Oakland Catholic (girls) |

What is an invitational? |
An invitational is an event with many
different schools and sometimes hundreds of runners. Unlike a normal meet, varsity and JV are
run usually run separately. |

What are pre-meet meals? |
It has become tradition to meet at a
team member's house the evening before certain meets for a pasta
meal. The intention of these meals is to load up on
carbohydrates and to promote a family-like team atmosphere. |
