Plum Girls Grab a Share of Section Title

Section Champions
A year of hard work and dedication paid for the lady Running Mustangs in the form of a section championship.  The Plum girls finished the season at 8-1.  No team in the section had a better record. However, Kiski and Gateway equaled Plum's 8-1 mark, forcing a three-way tie for the section title.  Coach Ionta is very proud of the girls and feels they had an outstanding season.  Now that the dual meet season is over, the girls are preparing for the "second season" which includes the Tri-States, WPIAL Championship and the PIAA Championship. Go Mustangs!

Boys
The boys team finished the dual meet season with a 6-3 record.  Considering the high level of competition in the section this year, the boys season was very respectable.  As anyone familiar with WPIAL Cross Country knows, it takes a quality team to defeat both Gateway and Central Catholic in the same year.  The 2002 Plum boys are a quality team.  The Running Mustangs have a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to.  The boys are working extra hard and are hoping to make a big statement in the post season.

 Grove City
The Running Mustangs made a clean sweep at the Grove City Invitational.   Both varsity teams and both JV teams finished in first place.  Ashley Ressler and Sean Tuite each got to break the tape in the Junior Varsity races.  Individual times were blistering fast as many runners had PRs.  Fourteen boys finished the race below 19:00 and nine girls finished below 22:00.  It was a great day for Running Mustangs!
