2002 SEASON WRAP-UP

Twigg Runs at State Championship Meet in Hershey, PA
Rachel Twigg put an official end to the 2002 season when she crossed the finish line at the Pennsylvania State Cross Country Championship in Hershey, PA.  She ran an impressive race with a finishing time of 20:27.  Rachel placed 61st in a field of 250+ of Pennsylvania's top runners.  Her place is the highest ever achieved by a Plum runner.  Rachel's did a wonderful job of representing Plum Cross Country to the rest of the state by showing her talent, heart and fun-loving nature.  She is looking forward to returning again next year, this time with some Plum running mates.

Girls Finish 8th in WPIAL
The girls team finished the  season with a display a class and spirit at the WPIAL Championship. With their sites set on a qualifying for states, the girls arrived at the Slippery Rock course focused and ready to run.  The less than desirable weather conditions seemed to go unnoticed by the team as they psyched themselves up for the race they trained so hard for.

From start to finish, each of the runners gave her best.  For their efforts, the girls earned 8th place in a field of 45 AAA schools, just a few places shy of state qualification.  The disappointment only last a few moments as the girls realized that they finished higher than any team in Plum Cross Country history!  They also unofficially broke the three-way tie for the section title by placing ahead of Gateway and Kiski. It was a fine ending to a wonderful season.

Boys Finish 12th in WPIAL
The Plum boys wrapped up their season with a 12th place finish in a field of 47 teams at the WPIAL Championships at Slippery Rock University.  Senior Cam Christeson capped his fine Cross Country career at Plum in stride with Junior Nick "New Kid" Croasdaile as both finished at 17:54. The rest of the Mustang team was not far behind.  The boys team has a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to in the future.  This year's senior class has set the pace for Nick Croasdaile and his fellow underclassmen. The class and sportsmanship showed by the seniors will leave a lasting mark the program.  Thanks Guys.
